For years, I’ve talked about having my own boutique. I’ve worked on several concepts and experimented with countless names. Nothing was ever quite right.
About 2 months ago, I found this YouTube video created by a Posher called Empty Hanger. In the video, she talked about her experience selling on Poshmark.
I was so intrigued that I decided to look at a few more videos by other sellers like 1Threadatatime, The Thrifty Flamingo and Bexa Boss Lady to Name a few.
On April 12, 2018, I decided to take the plunge. I opened my Poshmark store (getaboveaverage) and I had my first sale on April 16, 2018. At the time of writing this article, my sales totaled $398 for 27 items.
So how have I been getting sales. What’s my secret sauce? Honestly, there really isn’t a secret method. It just requires consistency and a little research on the most popular items when searching for inventory.
Inventory Selection
One of the best tips I can give is finding the right inventory, making the right investment and pricing your items competitively. I think a lot of my sales came from watching a ton of videos and spending countless hours searching the sold items on the Poshmark app.
Sharing is Caring
Poshmark is all about the social experience. Everyone talks about the importance of sharing your closet, sharing the closets of other Poshers and following other app users. Not to sound like a broken record, but what they say is true. You have to interact to get engagement.
Are you currently selling on Poshmark or maybe you’re still trying to decide if you want to make the plunge? Either way, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below. If you currently sell, what tips have worked for you? If you haven’t started selling yet, what are your reservations?
